What is the New York State Muzzle-Loaders Association all about?

For over 25 years the New York State Muzzle-loaders Association has been "dedicated to the continuing support of black powder events, people, and legislation." Overall we have about 40 affiliated clubs throughout New York State. If you're not in one of these affiliated clubs, don't worry, you can be an individual member, or have a membership as a family. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A MEMBER TO ATTEND OUR EVENTS.

We have 5 major events throughout each year. The first event being the "Primitive Biathlon" which also happens to be the newest of all 5 events! This is usually sometime in March, for more information click on the "Primitive Biathlon" tab to your left. The second event on the schedule is our "Spring Family Fun Shoot & Camp Out." This weekend is packed with shooting, great peopole, and just plain fun. This is usually on Memorial Day Weekend, you can move in Friday night, and shooting starts Saturday Morning. The third major event we hold every year is for the more competitive shooter. It's the "Trophy Shoot." Usually held in the last weekend in July or first weekend in August, this shoot is not any less fun because of it's more competitive nature. As with the Spring shoot you can move in Friday, and camp out the weekend. Next we come to the "Fall Family Fun Shoot & Camp Out." It's usually held on Labor Day Weekend, and doubles as our annual meeting and election of officers. As with all of our shoots, you can move in Friday night and stay all weekend. Finally we come to our largest of all, the annual "Primitive Rendezvous & Hunt." The Rendezvous, usually held in October, stretches out for a full week! This is a 100% primitive experience that you will never forget.

At our regular events in the Town of Ohio, there are electric hookups for those of you who bring "Primitive Campers." You can dress in period dress, or modern. Bring a period tent, modern tent, or Camper/RV.

The Town of Ohio Recreation Field and Range is located on Nellis Road, just off of New York State Route 8. It's approximately 7 miles north of Cold Brook, NY in the beautiful Adirondack Foothills.

Come on out and join us for weekends packed with shooting, companionship and most of all, FUN! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact the board, or your local regional representative.
